WHAT?
AmeriCon will be the first major demo competition in North America.
It will be the first time non-Euro groups will be in the spotlight, however
small it is.
WHERE?
The best facility that we could find is the Catlin Gabel Auditorium.
This area is complete with room for 250+ persons with Amigas. It
also has a brand new 25' video projection system (with RGB input) and over
500 watts of sound. Should be enough for the demo/music/art competitions.
WHEN?
This competition will be held from 12 noon (PST) Friday, March 26 until
4:30 p.m. (PST) Sunday, March 28 (Not continious, sorry!).
COMPETITIONS!
There will be a demo comp, a music comp, an art comp, and a ray
traced anim comp. There may also be some "spontaneous" comps. The
following rules apply to all comps:
1. Entries must be received at the main desk (will be clearly
marked) no later than 8 p.m. (PST) on Saturday (except raytrace,
see below).
2. Entrants need not be present to enter, but must pay the entry
fee (see below).
3. All entries must work on a 1MB Chip Mem, NTSC, 1.3, A500. (except
the raytrace comp. See below.)
4. There will be a fee of $5 for EACH COMP ENTERED that must be
paid when your entry is delivered.
The special rules for the music comp are:
1. Songs must be made into executables.
2. A maximum of 10 minutes will be played.
Special rules for the art comp are:
1. Must be loadable into DeluxePaint 4.
2. All art must be hand drawn, no raytraces!
The bonus rules for the demo comp are:
1. All demos must be on a self-booting disk(s).
2. A maximum of 30 minutes will be shown.
The raytraced anims must follow these rules:
1. All anims must be entered on NTSC VHS video cassette.
2. A maximum of 15 minutes will be show.
3. Raytraces must be turned in by 12:00 noon (PST) on Saturday.
All disks/video cassettes will be returned upon request. Mail entries
must send return postage.
The prize money for the comps will depend on the number of entries. All
fee money becomes prize money. The "pay scale" works like this:
First Place - 50%
Second Place - 30%
Third Place - 20%
COST:
A pass for all three days is $10 per person. This gets you in for
the whole show, where as a day pass ($5) is valid just for one day. Each
entry in each comp is $5 and all of this money goes to the prizes. The other
money goes to offset the cost of having this thing! No foreign monies will
be accepted.
OTHER NOTES:
During the day we will be showing demos/movies/etc. on the projector,
so if you have any thing "special" that you want show (special requests, etc.)
let us know. There will also at least one local software/hardware store with
a booth at the comp selling disks/disk drives/etc, we also hope to have a mini
service department there, so don't worry about your stuff dying. Also, any
illegal activities will not be tolerated!
